Orange Plaza Inn Comments by OTPA via emailDRC Comments DRC No. 5009-29 Orange Plaza Inn Committee members. We have met with the applicant on a number of occasions to discuss this project and our input has been incorporated into portions of the project.. We support the project as far as use and impacts it will create as well as design. The fact that they have parking is a plus. The applicant has met and worked with the community as well with a positive response. The community and OTPA thought that a hotel use would be better than a restaurant use to create less of an impact on the surrounding neighborhood. The restoration of the front façade of the 1905 building will be an asset to the Maples Ave. streetscape. This building is a twin to the home on the corner of Almond and Batavia. As always we would like to see in kind materials with an appropriate color pallet used especially on the 1905 structure. The use of authentic materials, in our opinion produces a better project consistent with the historic resources located within the historic district. We were pleased that the west portion of the front façade will be retained as well. There may be some DRC design tweaks that can make this an even better project. Thank you, Jeff Frankel Preservation Chairman Old Towne Preservation Association
