Goal 2. Be a fiscally healthy community
d. Effectively manage and develop City assets.
6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
These three properties located on La Veta Avenue were purchased by the City in the
1990's in anticipation of a project to widen La Veta Avenue. Each of the properties are
residential and each contain one single family residence. The City has been renting these
properties out since their respective purchases. The La Veta Avenue widening plan has
since been abandoned and thus these properties are no longer needed for any
anticipated future use by the City.
ITEM 3,a O 1 4/14/2020
With declaring these properties surplus to City needs, the City's real property agent can
begin the surplus property process. That process begins with the notification to all City
departments and various agencies in Orange County of the availability of the surplus
property, as required Government Code Section 54220, et seq. After the expiration of the
60-day notification period, the property will became available for sale to the general
public. It is important to note that the three properties are contributing structures to the
Old Towne Historic District, and are zoned R1-6.
Tonight's City Council action is to approve the resolution declaring the properties surplus,
thus allowing the City real property agent to begin the disposition process. Any sale and
transfer of the properties will require the approval of the City Council.
