Purchase of Winchester Law Enforcement ammunition from Dooley Enterprises, Inc.
2. SUMMARY �
The Police Department uses Winchester Law Enforcement ammunition. Dooley
Enterprises, Inc. is the only Southern California authorized distributor for this brand. This
purchase allows for the continuation of ammunition supp;lies for Fiscal Year 2019-2020.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Authorize the sole source purchase of ammunition frorn Dooley Enterprises, Inc. in an
amount not to exceed $75,000.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total expenditure for this purchase is $75,000 and jwill be funded upon adoption of
the proposed Fiscal Year 2019-2020 budget through General Fund (100).

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
Officers are required to use department-issued ammunition for department-authorized
firearms. The Police Department currently uses Winchester Law Enforcement
ammunition for patrol shotguns and rifles. Ammunition �is used during training and field
operations to maintain proficiency with firearms. There a�re only two California authorized
distributors for this brand, Adamson Industries, serving� Northern California and Dooley
Enterprises, Inc., serving Southern California. Dooley Enterprises, Inc. is located in
Anaheim, which allows for product pick-up on an as-need basis. The proximity of Dooley
Enterprises, Inc. with the Department, allows the Armorer to purchase in small quantities
which makes storage manageable.

The Police Department is requesting the continuation of ammunition supplies from sole
source vendor, Dooley Enterprises, Inc., for a total not to exceed amount of$75,000.
