SUBJECT Request to accept and appropriate into the City's revenue budget a $36,700 donation from the Friends of Orange Public Library(Friends). 2. SUMMARY This $36,700 donation will be used to purchase items as requested by the Library's Management Team for enhanced public service. Acceptance of the revenue and its appropriation into the FY18/19 budget are requested. 3. RECOMMENDATION 1) Accept into the City's revenue budget a$36,700 donation from the Friends, into revenue account number 100.2001.48390.19990 (Friends Donations). 2) Authorize the appropriation of$36,700 into the following expenditure account numbers: 100.2001.53301.19990-Book Budget(Friends) $21,000 100.2001.53011.19990-Employee Recognition Program(Friends) 1,000 100.2004.51423.19990-Maintenance &Equipment (Friends) 9,700 100.2016.53340.19990-Craft supplies-Adult(Friends) 500 100.2017.53340.19990-Craft supplies-Children &Teen (Friends) 4,500 $36,700 4. FISCAL IMPACT The total appropriations for this donation aze funded by the additional revenue received from the Friends of the Orange Public Library. ITEM 3. � � 1 10/9/18 5. STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL(S) 3. Enhance and promote quality of life in the community e. Develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships to enhance and promote quality of life programs,projects and services. 6. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION 5.0 Meet the educational, cultural, civic, information, recreation, business, and life-long learning needs of residents through the provision of library resources. 5.4 Promote collaborations among community groups, educational institutions and the Public Library to enhance sharing of information, resources, and financial support for library facilities, services and programs. , 7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND The Friends is donating $36,700 to meet various Library needs. The generous dollar amount coming from the Friends includes: • $21,000 to purchase DVDs for children, teens, and adults, as well as large print books for adults, updating and expanding the branch collections in particular. • $1,000 to fund the library's Employee Appreciation Program. Funds will be used to reward and motivate staff for their hard work and dedication to the library throughout the year. • $9,700 — From this, $9,000 will be used to acquire an Orange Public Library branded mobile app. With the app, Library patrons will be able to search the Library's catalog, place holds, and manage their account on their personal devices. The remainder is for Volunteer Tracking Software. The Library's Volunteer Coordinator will use the software to help manage statistics, schedules, and timesheets for over 350 volunteers. • $5,000 to purchase supplies for the annual Summer Reading Club for children, teens, and adults. Funds will purchase reading incentives, program supplies, etc. for approximately 3,000 patrons. The Orange Public Library will publicize the Friends' contributions in a variety of ways, including bookplates where appropriate, and credit for programming support on the Library's website, flyers, and calendars. 8.
