Accept and appropriate into the City's revenue budget a donation in the amount of $5,000 from
the Orange Public Library Foundation (Foundation).
2. SUMMARY
Donations from the Foundation will be used to purchase Local History related items for the
Orange Public Library & History Center.
3. RECOMMENDATION
1) Accept into the City's revenue a $5,000 donation from the Foundation to revenue account
number 100.2001.48390.19322 (Foundation Donations), and;
2) Authorize the appropriation of $5,000 to the following expenditure account numbers:
100.2016.53340.19322 — Craft Supplies (Foundation) $3,700
100.2016.53910.19322 — Minor Office Equipment (Foundation) 1,300

The total appropriation for this donation is funded by the additional revenue from the
Foundation.

5.4 Promote collaborations among community groups, educational institutions and the Public
Library to enhance sharing of information, resources, and financial support for library
facilities, services and programs.
7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
The Foundation is donating $5,000 for Local History resources for the Orange Public Library &
History Center. The generous dollar amount coming from the Foundation includes:
• $3,700 to purchase preservation materials, storage items and display items, and to fund
printing costs for Local History brochures and bookmarks, and;
• $1,300 to provide equipment to aid in the preservation and digitization of Local History
materials, such as external hard drives, portable scanner, VCR/DVD conversion machine,
and video capture software.
The Orange Public Library will publicize the Foundation's contributions in a variety of ways,
including bookplates where appropriate, and credit for programming support on the Library's
website, flyers, and calendars.
