2. SUMMARY
Grant funds from Califa and the California State Library will be used to purchase bilingual
children's books and nonfiction books for children and adults respectively for the Library.
3. RECOMMENDATION
1) Accept into the City's revenue budget a $7,500 grant from Califa to revenue account
100.2001.45495.30112 (Other Grant Revenue — Califa), and a $7,500 grant from California
State Library to revenue account 100.2001.45290.30111 (State Grant — Initiatives Book
Project), for a total revenue amount of $15,000, and;
2) Authorize the appropriation of $15,000 to the following expenditure accounts:
100.2001.53301.30111 — Library Books (CA State Library) $7,500
100.2001.53301.30112 — Library Books (Califa) 7,500

4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total appropriation for these grants is funded by the additional revenue received from Califa
and the California State Library.

7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
The Orange Public Library has been awarded two grants totaling $15,000, of which $7,500 is
through Califa, a nonprofit library membership consortium, and $7,500 is from the California
State Library. Both agencies have generously provided support to our Library for the expansion
and enhancement of the bilingual children's books collection and the nonfiction books collection
for children and adults. Grant funds will be used to purchase Vietnamese -English children's
books for the Orange Public Library & History Center, and to purchase children's STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) books for the Orange Public Library & History
Center, as well as books for adults in the areas of workforce development, veterans services,
citizenship, and adult literacy.
