Request to accept and appropriate into the City's revenue budget a $40,000 donation from the
Orange Public Library Foundation (Foundation).
2. SUMMARY
This $40,000 donation will be used to purchase items as requested by the Library's Management
Team for enhanced public service. Acceptance of the revenue and its appropriation into the
FYI 8/19 budget are requested.
3. RECOMMENDATION
1) Accept into the City's revenue budget a $40,000 donation from the Foundation, into
revenue account number 100.2001.48390.19322 (Foundation Donations).
2) Authorize the appropriation of $40,000 into the following expenditure account numbers:

7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
The Foundation is donating $40,000 to meet various Library needs, including $10,000 from its
Gala's "Raise Your Paddle ". The generous dollar amount coming from the Foundation includes:
• $26,750 to purchase books, DVDs, and magazines for children, teen, and adults.
• $7,000 to provide media equipment for the El Modena Community Room and the Rotary
Room at the Orange Public Library & History Center.
• $1,000 to support the 2 nd annual Orange Public Library Comic -Con.
• $3,500 to purchase new furniture and power sources for laptop users at the Orange Public
Library & History Center.
• $750 to support the 2 nd annual Dia de los Ninos program at El Modena Branch Library.
$1,000 to purchase new furniture and decor for the Teen Zone at the Orange Public
Library & History Center.

The Orange Public Library will publicize the Foundation's contributions in a variety of ways,
including bookplates where appropriate, and credit for programming support on the Library's
website, flyers, and calendars.
