03.05 Temporary Staff Agreement Amendment1. SUBJECT First Amendment to Professional Services Agreement with Project Partners Inc. for temporary staffing services. 2. SUMMARY With three vacancies in the engineering section at the Water Division, there is an immediate staffing need to maintain the level of service to the customers, especially with enginineering plan check services. The Water Division requests to extend the agreement with Project Partner, Inc. for temporary staffing services. It is estimated that additional funding in the amount of $20,000 will provide temporary staffing until the end of June 2018. 3. RECOMMENDED ACTION 1. Approve a First Amendment to Professional Services Agreement with Project Partners Inc. in the amount of $20,000 and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City. 4. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION Infrastructure Element Goal 6.0: Ensure water, sewer, and storm drain systems that meet the needs of residents and businesses. Policy 1.1: Provide sufficient levels of water, sewer, and storm drain service throughout the community. 7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND Currently, there are three vacancies in the engineering section at the Water Division. There is an immediate staffing need to maintain the level of service to the customers, especially with planning and development projects. The Water Division entered into a professional service agreement with Project Partners, Inc. in January of 2018 for temporary staffing services to fulfill this need. The original agreement was for $30,000 and funding is expected to last until mid April, 2018. The vacant engineering positions are currently going through the recruitment process. It is anticipated that full staffing levels will be achieved by the Summer of 2018. In the mean time, the Water Division requests to extend the agreement with Project Partner, Inc. for additional staffing services. It is estimated that additional funding in the amount of $20,000 will provide temporary staffing until the end of June 2018. 8.
