1. Call to Order / Pledge of Allegiance (3:36pm)

1.2. Approval of Meeting Minutes dated July 17, 2017

2. Library Director’s Report
2.1. The Solar Eclipse program that took place Saturday had 400 people attending. The actual
eclipse that took place today brought in 600 people. These events ran smoothly and were
hugely successful.
2.2. The Library was approved a 5-year restraining order from a problematic patron.
2.3. The Library installed 5 new self-check kiosks (the Board will get a demonstration after the
meeting). The feedback has been positive.
2.4. The Library launched a new eBook/eAudiobook service called cloudLibrary. The migration
went smoothly.
2.5. The Library is almost fully staffed, with the last new hire in background.
2.6. The Library will inherit a hybrid vehicle from Finance, this will replace the van.
2.7. The Literacy orientation went well last week, both tutors and learners are sharing their
positive feedback. There are now 5 students on the waiting list, with 14 current students.
2.8. Financial report – library on track.
3. Board Reports
3.1. Report from Chair Freeman - none
3.2. Report from Orange Public Library Foundation Liaison – no meeting this month
3.3. Report from Friends of the Library Liaison – Marva Hitchcock
3.3.1 Island’s fundraiser brought in $76.
3.3.2 Da Bianca fundraiser took place 8/15/17.
3.3.3 Sept book sale is Saturday 9/16/17.
3.4. Reports from Trustees
3.4.1 Trustee Martinez contacted Cathleen Corella with Orange Unified School District, she
and Chair Freeman will meet with her on 8/29.
4. Old Business
4.1. National Night Out recap – Chair Freeman stated the weather affected the attendance. They
agreed Home Depot location was better and a double booth was nice to have. The prize wheels
need some repairs.
4.2. Review and Approve Changes to Board Goals & Vision

5. New Business
5.1. Treats in the Streets (10/26/17 at 4pm) – The trustees wanted to start thinking about what is
needed for this event, they have requested a list from the Library.
5.2. Demonstration of New Self Check Kiosks – the Trustees got a demonstration of the new self-
check Kiosk.
