DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND This request is from Melissa Ramirez for a disabled parking space in front of her home located on the northwest corner of Cypress Street and Marietta. Avenue. The proponent's residence has a driveway and a single car garage located on Cypress Street. There is not enough space to park all the family vehicles in the driveway, so at least one vehicle must park on the street. The proponent's husband and daughter are disabled and because of the moderate to high demand for parking in the area, may not. be able to park near the residence. There is .a walkway at the northwest corner of Cypress Street and Marietta Avenue that leads to. the proponent's front door with. a level concrete landing area: in the parkway. Staff has visited the area several times and has observed the issues that Mrs. Ramirez has noted in her request. ITEM . 1 1 05/08/2019 It should be noted that blue curb will still be considered public parking and may be utilized by anyone with a handicapped designation on their vehicle. The required four foot level landing area in the parkway is already in place. Lastly, should the proponent no longer have need of the blue curb, they are.to contact the Public Works Department so that it may be removed. Based on the field review, it is staff's recommendation that the Traffic Commission approve the request for a disabled parking space in front of 246 South Cypress Street. All residents living within 300. feet of the intersection were notified of the Traffic Commission Meeting. 7. ATTACHMENTS 1.. Letter of Request 2. Area Map 3. Site Sketch ITEM 1 2 05/08/2019
