1. SUBJECT
Request for curb side disabled parking stall in front of 4007 East Palmyra Avenue.
2. SUMMARY
The requested blue curb is to provide the proponent parking adjacent to his to his
property.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve the installation of twenty feet of blue curb in front of 4007 East Palmyra Avenue..
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total expenditure for the project is $500 :and will be funded; in Minor Traffic Control
Devices (16302), through Traffic Improvement Measure M2 (263).

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
Mr. Sanchez is disabled and lives at 4007 East Palmyra Avenue. .Palmyra Avenue is
classified as a collector street in the study area. The area is residentially developed with
single family homes on both: sides of the street. There are severa[ apartments located on
Esplanade Street one block to the east . of the study area. Parking demand is high along
Esplanade Street and frequently the parking demand extends down Palmyra Avenue.
Our field review indicates that there is space orrthe west side of the proponent's driveway
for a disabled parking space. There is a level concrete landing in_ the parkway in the
subject area as well.

It should be noted that blue curb is still public parking and may be utilized by anyone with
a handicapped or purple -heart designation on their vehicle. The required four foot level
landing area in the in the parkway is already in place. Lastly should the proponent no
longer have need of the blue curb they are to contact the Public Works Department so
that it may be removed.
Staff has no issues with this request and recommends that the Traffic Commission
approve.the installation of a disabled parking space on the west side of the driveway that
serves 4007 East Palmyra Avenue.
All residents living within 300 feet of the intersection were notified of the Traffic
Commission Meeting.
