7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
This request is from Ms. Janice Swift of Swift and Swift CPA at 1006 East Chapman Avenue.
The reason for the request is to allow their clients to park on South Waverly Street, adjacent to
the business, for longer than two hours. The building was purchased approximately one year ago
and occupied by the CPA company. Renovations were completed and included the installation of
a disabled parking space within the on -site parking lot, which resulted in the loss of a general use
parking space for employees and customers. The business owner is now requesting on- street
parking for longer than the posted 2 -hour time limit.
Analysis
The existing 2 -HOUR parking zone was approved by the Traffic Commission in September of
2014 to provide turn over parking for the businesses that occupy both sides of South Waverly
Street in proximity to East Chapman Avenue. Since 2014, property ownership has changed and
the need for timed parking on both sides of South Waverly Street is no longer necessary. The
business owner at 1006 East Chapman Avenue feels that the existing 2 -HOUR time limit parking
zone on the east side of South Waverly Street is no longer beneficial for their business and is
requesting that it be removed.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Traffic Commission approve the removal of the 2 -HOUR time limit
parking signs from the east side of South Waverly Street adjacent to 1006 East Chapman
Avenue.
The proponent and all residents and businesses within 300 feet of the study area were notified of
the Traffic Commission Meeting.
