Award of Contract - Bid No. 178 -14, SP -4017; Annual Concrete Replacement at Various
Locations, Fiscal Year 2017 -2018 (FY2018).
2. SUMMARY
Bids for Annual Concrete Replacement at Various Locations Project, FY18 were received and
opened on November 22, 2017. Seven bidders responded to the Notice Inviting Bids. The apparent
low bidder is Klassic Engineering of Orange, California in the amount of $292,263.
13. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award the contract in the amount of $292,263 to Klassic Engineering of Orange, California 92866
and authorize the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City.

7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
The City Council previously approved advertisement for bids on October 10, 2017. The project
was publicly advertised for two weeks. The bids were opened on November 22, 2017. Seven
bidders responded as follow:

This project is part of the annual street maintenance replacement at various locations for curb and
gutter, sidewalk, driveway, and cross gutter.
Utilizing the City's Pavement Management Survey ranking of the current street conditions, the
City has prepared a list of streets requiring pavement rehabilitation for FY18. The street
rehabilitation overlay project will be bid out as a separate project later this fiscal year. This project
will replace damaged concrete in specified areas in preparation for to the street rehabilitation
overlay project in the fiscal year 2018.
The estimated total quantities for the Annual Concrete Replacement Project at Various Locations,
FYI is as follows:

The total estimated construction cost including 10% contingencies and construction engineering

Construction is scheduled to begin in late January 2018 and be completed by April 2018.
