7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
Mr. Jonathan Salmon of Le Gourmet Kitchen at 541 West Chapman Avenue is requesting a
disabled parking space on North Pixley Street adjacent to his business. The reason for the request
is to provide a disabled parking space for himself in front of his business.
Existing Conditions
The proponent's business is located at the northeast corner of West Chapman Avenue and North
Pixley Street in the Old Towne area. The subject business does not have off - street parking, but
uses the on- street parking along North Pixley Street. Mr. Salmon has stated the there is ample
parking on North Pixley Street, but the spaces closest to West Chapman Avenue tend to be
consistently occupied, forcing him to park up the street and walk too great a distance back to his
business.
Analysis
Recommendation
It is staff's recommendation that the request for a disabled parking space on North Pixley Street,
adjacent to 541 West Chapman Avenue, be approved, primarily due to the lack of available off -
street parking for this business. As a condition of approval, Mr. Johnathan Salmon is required to
contact the Traffic Division if he relocates his business or has no further need for the marked stall
so it can be removed.
The proponent and all residents and businesses within 300 feet of the study area were notified
prior the Traffic Commission Meeting.
