II. ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Bonnie C. Lewis- Nygren 571 N Poplar St . - I received the notice for the red curb on
Poplar and I thought it concerned me at 571 N. Poplar St. which is right across the street
from the one at 1535 W. Orangewood Ave. My wish is that 571 N. Poplar St. curbs be
painted red because my tenants can't get out of my buildings without going almost into
the middle of the street because of the vans and long trucks that park on N. Poplar St.
for long periods of time in front of the 571 N. Poplar St. buildings. I have a tenant who
tells me he has to go almost out to the middle of the street in order to see around the
huge campers, and I've got pictures of this. You can imagine to get out and the cars are
coming from Orangewood Ave. and it's really creating a bad situation, I can see an
accident happening there. It's a very important concern, so I would like to have, we
have plenty of parking at 571 N. Poplar St. on the property we don't need tenants to
parking in front there so that's not the issue. The issue is safety.

to my grandson and my grandson didn't tell me about it.

I. Request for an intersection vision zone on Hewes St. at Silverleaf Ave.

was no further discussion of the request.
ACTION: Approved installation of 45 ft. of red curb on Hewes St. south of
Silverleaf Ave., as prescribed in the City's Intersection Sight
Distance Ordinance (OMC 10.3.040).

Poplar St. serving the business complex at 1835 W. Orangewood Ave.

Chairman Beil opened the public hearing for the following discussion.
Chairman Beil — The lady that spoke to us earlier, she mentioned 571 N. Poplar.
Dave Allenbach, Transportation Analyst — In the photo that is the complex on the
opposite side of the street from this driveway. We had some questions regarding
her request and we tried to contact her prior to Traffic Commission and we were
unsuccessful. Shortly after we received her request we got the request from 1835
W. Orangewood Ave. so this is the one we went with now. We spoke with her
before the meeting tonight and she is going to resubmit her request and we will
probably bring it to you in February.

Chairman Beil closed the public hearing and returned the item to the Commission for
further discussion and a motion.
ACTION: Approved installation of 30 ft. of red curb on the north side of the
subject driveway.

Wellington Rd.

Commissioner Feliz abstained from participation on this request due to
proximity.

Chairman Beil opened the public hearing for the following discussion.
Chairman Beil — The resident at 489 Wellington, did we have any contact with
them? It's the house right on the corner.
Dave Allenbach — Other than the notification letter no we did not.
Tanice Fairbanks, 3123 E. LaVeta Ave — I live on LaVeta and I can't get out in the
morning and at nighttime on weekends oftentimes it's a real close call, people do
a California STOP on Prospect there and it's very hazardous and dangerous. We
would appreciate the red curbs and I think they would work great.
Steve Bollweg, 3201 E. Hartford Rd . — I wasn't sure what an intersection vision
zone was, I just wanted to find out that you're not going to put up lights, not
going to have a permanent helicopter floating overhead. If that's the case I think
we're good.
Chairman Beil — Vision zone is a red curb is a safety vision zone.
Matt Ferrero, 3225E Ruth Pl . — My questions have been answered. I concur with
the California STOP issue at the intersection of Prospect St. and LaVeta Ave. is
getting worse and worse.
Chairman Beil closed the public hearing and returned the item to the Commission for
further discussion and a motion.

Wellington Rd., and 30 ft. on the west side, as prescribed in the
City's Intersection Sight Distance Ordinance (OMC 10.38.040).
