Request to temporarily suspend permit parking restrictions within Permit Areas D & G on
Thursday, June 15, 2017.
2. SUMMARY
Orange Unified School District will hold the high school commencement ceremonies for three of
their comprehensive high schools and their alternative high school at Fred Kelly Stadium.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve the request of Orange Unified School District and temporarily suspend the
neighborhood permit parking restrictions for high school commencement ceremonies on June 15,
2017.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
Costs associated with each non -City of Orange special event /pageant are the responsibility of the
event promoter or sponsor.

Growth management Goal 1.0: Reduce traffic congestion within the City.
Policy 1.10: Apply traffic- calming measures, where appropriate, to residential neighborhoods
affected by cut - through traffic in accordance with the City's Residential Neighborhood Traffic
Management Program.
7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
In preparation of commencement activities scheduled on June 15, 2017, Ed Howard of the
Orange Unified School District contacted the Public Works Department to request suspension of
permit parking in the neighborhoods surrounding Fred Kelly stadium. Four high schools (El
Modena, Canyon, Villa Park, and Richland) will be participating in the planned ceremonies. To
accommodate the parking demands on that day, it will be necessary to suspend permit parking for
permit areas D and G from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
