A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING
APPRECIATION TO LINDA YOUNG AND COMMENDING HER FOR OVER
SEVENTEEN YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE
WHEREAS, Linda Young has been a valuable member of the City of Orange Team since
September 26, 1999 when she accepted the position of Public Services Clerk for the then
Community and Library Services Department, and
WHEREAS, early on Linda was recognized as a real go- getter earning the praise and
admiration of those she worked with for her abilities, work ethic, and dedication, and
WHEREAS, on January 3, 2006, Linda found her home in Public Works as the
Engineering Division Secretary, and the following year became Administrative Assistant, and
WHEREAS, Linda has been the recipient of several awards; Public Works Employee of
the Quarter, March -May 2011, Public Works Employee of the Year 2010 -2011; Public Works
Team of the Quarter, 2011 -2012; and, Orange Grove Lodge No.293 F. & A.M. Community
Appreciation Program award, 2014.
WHEREAS, Linda has been instrumental in getting all Engineering CIP projects out to
bid and she always gets bid advertising published in time, issuing addendums as needed,
processing all contract payments on time, and always happily provides all administrative support
to field inspectors and project engineers needed to get their projects completed, and
WHEREAS, Linda puts herself out when it comes to feeding Public Works Engineering
and Administration with "snacks" that are more like meals, and staff will now surely lose weight,
and
WHEREAS, Linda's duck collection is the first thing the public notices and marvels at
when they come to the counter, and Linda needs a home for, them if you know anyone interested,
and
WHEREAS, Linda puts others before herself and will be sorely missed by all of her City
co- workers, friends, and Public Works family, and
WHEREAS, her husband, Jim, is certain that upon retirement Linda will be watching
television and eating bon bons in her bathrobe each day, when in fact as a devoted daughter she
will continue the care of her mother, Betty, and is looking forward to spending more time with her
loving husband.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Teresa "Tita" Smith, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf of
the entire Orange City Council, hereby extend sincere gratitude to Linda Young for over 17 years
of service and best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.
