SR - RES-10956 - COMMENDING 40 YEARSRESOLUTION NO. 10956 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO VICTOR URIBE AND COMMENDING HIM FOR OVER FORTY YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE. WHEREAS, as a product of Sycamore Elementary School, Portola Middle School, and Orange High School, Victor Uribe is an Orange native through and through; and WHEREAS, during the Bicentennial of our great nation, on June 9, 1976, Victor Uribe began his career with the City of Orange as Park Maintenance Worker with the Parks Department. During that year, he worked the first of his 39 International Street Fairs; and WHEREAS, Victor was diligent in his work, and in 1977, he was promoted to become one of the original Park Guards at the Parks Department; and WHEREAS, in 1981, he saw the light and migrated from Parks to the Public Works Department to work as a Maintenance Worker I on the Concrete Crew; and WHEREAS, after mastering his craft as a member of the Concrete Crew, Victor was promoted once again to the position of Sweeper Operator. In this capacity he would go on to for several years and gain the respect of his crew as an exceptional leader; and WHEREAS, in 1999, Victor would park his street sweeper and promote to the position of Leadworker at the Corporation Yard; and WHEREAS, over the next few years, Victor would be promoted to the position of Field Maintenance Supervisor and in 2009 Victor responded to the call and was promoted to his current position of Public Works Maintenance and Operations Manager; and WHEREAS, Victor has always been an extremely dedicated City employee and servant leader. He is the embodiment of the City's values of teamwork, integrity, and excellence and the Public Works Department's values of integrity, teamwork, innovation and stewardship; and WHEREAS, as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, it is certain that Victor will be found enjoying time with his wife of 32 years, Linda, his children Selena, Naomi, and Victor, Jr. and his grandchildren Andrew, Jordan, and Olivia; and WHEREAS, Victor loves to travel and if we need to reach him it will be a long distance call as he will more than likely be traveling with his wife Linda and chatting it up with his fellow vacationers in the pool at some far distant place; and WHEREAS, Victor will always be known as a great leader and exceptional manager who possessed the unique ability to care, manage effectively, and retain the devotion, loyalty, and friendship within the Public Works Department and throughout all City Departments; and . 3, ITEM. DATE OF MEETING. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES AUGUST 9, 2016 3. CONSENT CALENDAR (Continued) 3.23 Purchase of one Public Safety Vehicle for Orange Fire Department. (C2500.H) ACTION: 1) Authorized the purchase of one piece of pumper equipment for the Orange Fire Department from Pierce Manufacturing, located in Appleton, WI, in the amount of $777,640; 2) Authorized the purchase of equipment and supplies needed to outfit the pumper from various vendors (lowest qualified bidder) in the amount of $82,870; 3) Authorized the purchase of communication equipment, including radio(s), mobile data computer and GPS unit to outfit new pumper to current OFD standards in the amount of $17,959; 4) Authorized the transfer of $10,000 from: 790.1601.56033.19640 (Info Tech Upgrades) to 790.3021.56032.12955 (Mobile Data Computers); and 5) Authorized the City Manager to surplus the replaced vehicle. RESOLUTIONS 3.24 RESOLUTION NO. 10956 (C2500.J) A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Orange expressing appreciation to Victor Uribe and commending him for over forty years of loyal and dedicated public service. ACTION: Approved. 3.25 RESOLUTION NO. 10957 (C2500.J) A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Orange expressing appreciation to Paul Hamilton and commending him for over thirty years of loyal and dedicated public service. ACTION: Approved. 3.26 RESOLUTION NO. 10958 (S4000.0) A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Orange accepting certain roads and streets into the City Street system. ACTION: Approved. PAGE 7
