1. SUBJECT
Purchase of Winchester Law Enforcement ammunition from Dooley Enterprises, Inc. as a sole
source vendor for FYI 7.
2. SUMMARY
The Police Department uses Winchester Law Enforcement ammunition. As Dooley Enterprises,
Inc. is the only Southern California authorized distributor for this brand, the Department is
requesting Council approval on a sole source basis.
3. RECOMMENDATION / ACTION
Authorize the purchase of Police Department ammunition from Dooley Enterprises, Inc. in the
amount of $75,400 for FYI as a sole source.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and will be available with the adoption of the FYI budget as follows:
100.4011.53540 (Administration - Ammunition) $70,000
100.4021.53540 (Patrol- Ammunition) $ 5,400

6. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION
Public Safety Goal 6.0 Provide public safety services of the highest quality.
Policy 6.1: Provide the Police Department with adequate personnel, equipment and state -of the
art- technology to effectively combat crime, meet existing and projected service demands, and
provide crime prevention programs. These resources should be provided prior to anticipated
needs.
7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
The Police Department uses Winchester Law Enforcement ammunition. There are only two
California authorized distributors for this brand, Adamson Industries, serving Northern
California and Dooley Enterprises, Inc., serving Southern California. Dooley Enterprises is
located in Anaheim, which allows for saving on shipping costs as the Armorer can pick -up the
product on an as -need basis. This also means that ammunition can be bought in smaller
quantities, making storage manageable.
