SUBJECT Request to accept and appropriate into the City's revenue budget a $30,450.00 donation from the Friends of the Orange Public Library (FOPL). 2. SUMMARY This $30,450.00 donation will be used to purchase items as requested by the Library's Management Team for enhanced public service. Acceptance of the revenue and its appropriation into the FYI 5/16 budget are requested. 3. RECOMMENDATION 1) Accept into the City's revenue budget a $30,450.00 donation from FOPL, into revenue account number 100.2001.48390.19990 (Library Friends Donations). 2) Authorize the appropriation of $30,450.00 into the following expenditure account numbers: 100.2001.53011.19990 - FOPL (Employee Recognition Program) $1,500.00 100.2001.53301.19990 - FOPL (Book Budget) $15,700.00 100.2004.51423.19990 — FOPL (Maintenance & Equipment) $700.00 100.2004.53913.19990 - FOPL (Computer Software) $7,300.00 100.2016.51670.19990 — FOPL (Other Professional & Consulting) $3,000.00 100.2016.53340.19990 - FOPL (Craft supplies - Adult) $750.00 100.2017.53340.19990 - FOPL (Craft supplies - Children & Teen) $1,500.00 $30,450.00 4. FISCAL IMPACT Upon appropriation of this donation, the Library budget will increase by $30,450.00. 5. STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL(S) ITEM x. 1 0 1 10/13/15 3. Enhance and promote quality of life in the community e. Develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships to enhance and promote quality of life programs, projects and services. 6. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION 5.0 Meet the educational, cultural, civic, information, recreation, business, and life -long learning needs of residents through the provision of library resources. 5.4 Promote collaborations among community groups, educational institutions and the Public Library to enhance sharing of information, resources, and financial support for library facilities, services and programs. 7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND FOPL is donating $30,450.00 to meet various Library needs. The generous dollar amounts coming from the Friends of the Orange Public Library include: • $15,700 to purchase DVDs for children, teens, and adults, as well as large print books for adults. The demand for audio - visual items and for new and bestselling items has increased due to expanded library hours. • $2,250 to purchase supplies for the annual Summer Reading Club for children, teens, and adults. Funds will purchase reading incentives, program supplies, etc. for approximately 3,000 patrons. • $700 for Volunteer TraQking Software. The Library's Volunteer Coordinator will use the software to help manage statistics, schedules, and timesheets for over 400 volunteers. • $10,300 for Local History Digitization. Funds will purchase an additional 7,500 digital records as well to continue the digitization of local history photos and other materials. • $1,500 to fund the library's Employee Appreciation Program. Funds will be used to reward and motivate staff for their hard work and dedication to the library throughout the year. The Orange Public Library will publicize FOPL's contributions in a variety of ways, including bookplates where appropriate, and credit for programming support on the Library's website, flyers, and calendars. 8.
