A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING
APPRECIATION TO MOHAMMAD "AMIR"
JALALI - FARAHANI AND COMMENDING
HIM FOR TWENTY -EIGHT YEARS OF
LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, On October 20, 1976, Mohammad "Amir" Jalali Farahani migrated to
the United States with great dreams.
WHEREAS, Amir began working for the City of Orange in January of 1987 as an
Engineering Aide. In July of 1987, Amir would be reclassified as an Engineering Technician
II and within one year, be promoted to the position of Engineering Technician III and
eventually to Assistant Engineer.
WHEREAS, In 1995, after countless hours of study and acquiring an enhanced
mastery of English, Amir passed a grueling State examination and was awarded the title of
Professional Engineer.
WHEREAS, Over the next two decades, Amir would ascend to the position of
Assistant Civil Engineer, Associate Civil Engineer, and Principal Civil Engineer.
WHEREAS, Amir's desire to master traffic engineering compelled him to prepare
for and obtain his State Traffic Engineering registration which propelled him to his current
position of Manager Transportation Services /City Traffic Engineer.
WHEREAS, Amir has always been an extremely dedicated City employee and
servant leader. He is the embodiment of the City's values of teamwork, integrity and
excellence and is to be commended on his tireless work to improve all modes of
transportation for the residents, visitors, and businesses to the City of Orange.
WHEREAS, Amir will truly be missed by the Traffic Commission, the Orange
Police Department Traffic Bureau, his award winning Public Works Team of Traffic
Engineering and Operations, the remainder of the Public Works Department, the City's
dedicated employees and the countless present and future residents, visitors and businesses
who will continue to benefit from Amir's 28 years of leadership and vision.
WHEREAS, Amir has announced his retirement effective December 30, 2014, Amir
is looking forward to exploring his entrepreneurial interests, distance running, wine making
and tasting, along with traveling with his wife and daughter.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Orange
expresses their sincere appreciation and congratulations to Amir Farahani for his 28 years of
loyal and dedicated service and wishes him a long and happy retirement.
