A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
OFFICER KEN ADAMS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
FOR 30 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE

September 1987, his dream was realized when he was hired as a fulltime police officer with the City of Orange;
and
WHEREAS, upon graduation from the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Academy on March 4, 1988, Ken
began his career as a patrol officer and served as a Field Training Officer; and
WHEREAS, On July 17, 1994, Ken transferred to the Traffic Bureau. His duties in Traffic have
included fatal and major traffic accident investigations, hit and run follow up, commercial vehicle enforcement,
and oversight of the police tow company program; and
WHEREAS, Ken is a nationally recognized expert on commercial vehicle safety and teaches on the
topic around the country; and
WHEREAS, Ken was selected as the Officer of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2004 due in large
part to his efforts as the department's commercial enforcement officer. He was elected to the position of vice -

Orange Police Association from 2008 to 2012; and

prosecuting; and
WHEREAS, for the past 14 years, Ken has been the "go to" guy in the Traffic Bureau. His law

Ken's professionalism, compassion, and tenacity. He is the first person those in need want to see and the last
one criminals want on their trail; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Teresa E. Smith, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf of the entire City
Council, do hereby commend Officer Ken Adams for his 30 years of distinguished and honorable service to the
Orange Police Department and to the citizens of Orange.
