A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO COUNCILMEMBER DENIS BILODEAU
COMMENDING HIM FOR HIS EIGHT YEARS OF
LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE
RESIDENTS OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, in November 2006, Denis was victorious in his run for a City Council seat,
which fulfilled a personal promise to follow in the footsteps of his close friend, Councilman Steve
Ambriz who appointed him to the City's Planning Commission on July 12 2005. Councilman
Ambriz died in an automobile accident in Orange on May 25, 2006 and Denis ran for the Council seat
left vacant due to this tragedy. In January 2010, Denis was appointed Mayor pro tem, and was re-
elected in 2010 to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Denis first became active in Orange County politics when he was elected in
November 2000 to the Orange County Water District. He has since been re- elected in 2004, 2008,
and 2012. He has served as OCWD Board President from 2002 -2004. In his role on the OCWD,
Denis was pivotal in assisting the City with obtaining use of space for the completion of the Santiago
Road Bike Trail and the construction of the Ground Water Replenishment System - both important
projects that will benefit Orange residents for years; and
WHEREAS, since being elected, Denis has utilized both his education and professional
expertise to help shape the City's infrastructure, and public works capital projects. His leadership led
to the first ever competitive bid for solid waste service in the City. Denis holds a bachelor's degree in
Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and is a licensed Civil and Traffic
Engineer in California; and
WHEREAS, Denis, his wife Suzanne and their children, Lia, Robert and Simone are
long -time residents of Orange. Their family is involved in Indian Guides /Princesses, Little League,
Girl Scouts, AYSO, Villa Park High School Golf Team, PTA and at their church, Trinity Episcopal;
and
WHEREAS, Denis has served on various regional committees and commissions
throughout Orange County, including Orange County Transportation Authority, Foothill /Eastern &
San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor Agency, Orange County Sanitation District, OC Waste
Management Commission, Santa Ana Water Shed Project Authority, Orange County Vector Control
District, Orange County Emergency Medical Care Committee, Orange County Housing and
Community Development Commission; and is active in the Orange Elks Lodge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the entire City Council, City Manager,
and staff members extend their sincere appreciation to Councilmember Denis Bilodeau for his
leadership and commitment during his eight years on the Orange City Council.
