15. STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL(S)
Facilities and Equipment Management - Goal 2 —
a. Provide the appropriate apparatus and equipment needed to meet the increasing demands
on the fire department and industry standards.
Administration — Goal 1 —
a. Monitor trends within and throughout the fire service to improve efficiency and
effectiveness.
6. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation strives to improve the life- saving capabilities of
first responders and public safety organizations in communities served by Firehouse Subs
restaurant locations. The foundation provides and allocates funding, resources, and support in
five areas:
1. Life - saving equipment
2. Prevention education
3. Scholarships and continued education
4. Support for members of the military
5. Disaster preparedness and disaster relief
Wildland firefighting is a unique type of work which requires specialized equipment and safety
clothing. This respective equipment must be able to withstand high temperature exposure while
providing for rigorous use and firefighter navigation through rugged terrain. The Crew Boss Elite
BDU style pant provides for the appropriate level of protection while additionally reducing the
potential for fire personnel heat exhaustion. Firefighters are currently wearing two layers of pants
during wildland firefighting operations.
The Crew Boss Elite BDU style pant is a single -layer design allowing for appropriate
breathability and increased mobility during wildland operations. Following the receipt of this
safety clothing, the potential for injury will reduce and Firefighters will be able to operate more
effectively.
7. ATTACHMENTS
1. Letter from Tom Ramstead at Line Gear Fire & Rescue Equipment detailing terms of
grant funding and payment.
