The storm drain line collects runoff from a 60 acre residential drainage area with heavily tree lined streets and two private schools. The project area is bounded by Cambridge to the east; Shaffer to the west; La Veta to the south; and Almond to the north. The CDS unit will capture trash, sediment, bacteria, organic matter, nutrients, pesticides and other debris to minimize pollutants that enter the Santiago Creek. Public Works applied and was awarded $111,750 in funding from the OCTA M2 (Tier 1) call for projects to complete this work. The total estimated construction cost including 15% for contingencies and construction engineering is $95,000. The proposed storm drain improvement is categorically exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under CEQA guidelines Section 15301 "Existing Facilities" Class 1 (b). The Notice of Exemption has been filed with the County Recorder's Office. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2015 and is expected to be completed within thirty calendar days. 8.
