1. SUBJECT
Third Amendment to Agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc. /Republic Intelligent Transportation
Services to provide emergency response services for traffic signals /flashers and street lighting
maintenance.
2. SUMMARY
Republic Intelligent Transportation Services (ITS) was awarded a contract, on a competitive
basis, for emergency response services for traffic signals /flashers and street lighting maintenance
services within the City.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve Third Amendment to Contract AGR- 5713.2 with Siemens Industry, Inc. /Republic
Intelligent Transportation Services (ITS) in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00 to provide
emergency response services for traffic signals /flashers and street lighting maintenance services
within the City and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City.

Upon adoption of the 2014 -15 Budget funds will be available in the following account:

6. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION
Growth Management Goal 1.0 Reduce traffic congestion within the City.
Policy 3.0: Ensure adequate maintenance of public rights -of -way to enhance public safety and
improve circulation.
Policy 3.3: Continue to design, install, and maintain signals, signage, street lights, and traffic
control devices within rights -of -way.
7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
Republic ITS (RITS) was awarded a contract, on a competitive basis, for emergency response
services for traffic signals /flashers and street lighting maintenance services in February 2011.
This contract has the option for annual extensions up to four (4) years, as agreed upon by both
parties. RITS was acquired by Siemens Industry, Inc. in 2010, and effective October 1, 2012,
RITS was merged into its parent company, Siemens Industry, Inc.
This is the third contract extension. This amendment extends emergency traffic signals and street
lighting system services through June 30, 2015.
The contractor, in compliance with the terms of this agreement, has indicated there will be a
1.0% fee increase during the term of the amended agreement. Staff recommends extending the
traffic signal emergency response contract for a twelve -month period until June 30, 2015.
