The Water Division provides maintenance services to over 4,000 fire hydrants throughout the
City. The work includes cleaning, painting, and vegetation trimming. It is the goal of the Water
Division to service all fire hydrants within a 4 -year cycle. Due to staffing limitations, the Water
Division wants to contract out this routine maintenance. It is estimated that 1,100 fire hydrants
will need to be serviced each year.
Work items will include traffic control, removal of grease, oil, loose paint, dirt, and other foreign
material, painting, and vegetation trimming. The scope of work includes all labor, equipment,
and materials necessary to complete the fire hydrant painting. The cost estimate for a one year
service is $125,000.00.
The term of the contract is for one year with an option to renew the contract annually for a total
of three (3) more years if the City is satisfied with the level of service from the contractor.
