GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION GOAL 5 - Provide recreational facilities and programs that adequately serve the needs of residents. 5.1 - Maintain existing City parks at levels that provide maximum recreational benefit to City Residents. 7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND Background: Maintenance of the Hart Park pool has been accomplished using contract services since 2010. The contract services include pool cleaning, chemical supply, and repair and replacement of pool equipment. As the pool and its equipment age, repairs and replacement of equipment have increased overall maintenance costs. In addition, the unseasonably warm winter has resulted in additional cost resulting from an increased use of chemicals. Discussion: The cost of additional equipment repairs and chemical consumption has exceeded the dollar amounts provided for in the current Agreement. An additional $11,500 is being added to the Agreement in FY 13 -14 to cover these costs. The amount provided for in the Agreement for FY 14 -15 will also be increased by $10,000 to address the escalating cost of repairs. The total agreement amount for FY 13 -14 is $36,854.80 and for FY 14 -15 is $35, 354.80. Existing appropriations will support the increases in the Agreement for FY 13 -14 and FY 14 -15 however, other repairs of park facilities may have to be deferred as a result. Prior to termination of this current Agreement in June, 2015, the City's Hart Park pool maintenance and repair will be offered for competitive bid for the FY 15 -16 term. 8.
