6. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION
5.0 Meet the educational, cultural, civic, information, recreation, business, and life -long learning
needs of residents through the provision of library resources.
5.4 Promote collaborations among community groups, educational institutions and the Public
Library to enhance sharing of information, resources, and financial support for library
facilities, services and programs.
7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
FOPL is donating $38,700 to meet various Library needs. The generous dollar amounts coming
from the The Friends of the Orange Public Library include:
• $30,500 to purchase DVDs and audiobooks for children, teens, and adults, as well as
adult fiction and nonfiction for the branches and eBooks for adults. The demand for
audio - visual items and for materials at the branches has increased due to expanded library
hours.
• $2,000 to fund children's programs at the branches. Due to expanded library hours and
greater demand by the community, more programs are needed at the branches. Funds will
pay for paid performers (magicians, puppeteers, etc.).
• $5,000 to purchase supplies for the annual Summer Reading Club for children, teens, and
adults. Funds will purchase reading incentives, program supplies, etc. for approximately
3,000 patrons.
• $1,200 to fund the library's Employee Recognition Program. Funds will be used to
reward and motivate staff for their hard work and dedication to the library throughout the
year.
The Orange Public Library will publicize FOPL's contributions in a variety of ways, including
bookplates where appropriate, and credit for Summer Reading Club support on the Library's
website, flyers, and calendars.
