MINUTES
City of Orange
Orange Public Library Board of Trustees
June 15, 2026
The Orange Public Library Board of Trustees of the City of Orange, California convened on June 15,
2026 at 3:30 p.m. in a Regular Meeting in the Rotary Room of the Orange Public Library & History
Center, 407 E. Chapman Avenue, Orange, California 92866.
1. OPENING/CALL TO ORDER
Chair Martinez called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
1.1 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair Martinez led the flag salute.
1.2 ROLL CALL
Present: Huber, Stevens, Cazares, Zimmerman, and Martinez
Absent: None
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3.1. Approval of minutes of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees Regular
Meeting held on May 18, 2026
A motion was made by Trustee Stevens, seconded by Trustee Cazares, to approve the
minutes as presented.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Huber, Stevens, Cazares, Zimmerman, and Martinez
Noes: None
Absent: None
4. FRIENDS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT
Vice Chair Huber provided updates on the following on behalf of the Friends of the
Orange Public Library ("Friends"):
Conducting market research to update Friends pricing.
Upcoming specialty book sales and requests.
Identifying local groups in need of books.
The donation drop bin was temporarily removed for renovations.
Friends will host an appreciation event for their volunteers.
The Friends bookstore.

5. ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT
Amy Harpster, Assistant Library Director, provided updates on the following on behalf
of the Orange Public Library Foundation ("Foundation"):
The Foundation was nominated as the Best Arts & Culture Nonprofit in the 2026
Best of Orange" awards, hosted by the Orange Chamber of Commerce.
The Summer Soiree fundraising event will take place at The Squeeze located at 80
Plaza Square, Orange, California 92866 on July 23, 2026.
6. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
6.1. Library Services Director's Report and Updates on Library Services
Amy Harpster, Assistant Library Director, provided updates on Community and Library
Services, including:
Literacy statistics.
Building signage and displays.
Library staff, recruitments, and scheduling.
Pop-Up Library and community outreach.
Summer programming.
The OPL Statistics at a Glance -April 2026 report was received and filed.
7. BOARD REPORTS
7.1 Reports from Chair
Chair Martinez reported the following:
Santiago Charter Middle School created 20 "Little Free Libraries" to distribute
around the City. They are seeking support from the Friends and Foundation for the
initial supply of books.
Chair Martinez received requests from OUSD for the Pop-Up Library to attend a
Resource Fair event at El Modena High School on August 1, 2026.
7.2 Reports from Trustees
Trustees reported the following:
The Library is helping the Old Towne Preservation Association with a local history
display of Orange at the Woman's Club of Orange.
8. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:25 p.m.
The next Regular Orange Public Library Board of Trustees meeting will be held on
Monday, July 20, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. in the Rotary Room of the Orange Public Library &
History Center
