Opportunity to serve on the:
Park Planning and Community Events Commission
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to California Government Code §54974, that an
unscheduled vacancy exists on the Park Planning and Community Events Commission
due to the resignation of Steven Freeman. The unexpired term ends June 30, 2029. The
successful appointee will be required to file a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700)
within 30 days of assuming office. In addition, AB1234 Ethics Education and AB1661
Sexual Harassment Avoidance Training certificates are required.
The Park Planning & Community Events Commission was established to: implement park
and trail planning, design and develop policies as outlined in the General Plan and Master
Plan of Parks and Master Plan of Recreation Trails; act in an advisory capacity to the City
Council for matters pertaining to City-sponsored community events; develop and
implement strategies to solicit community and special interest groups' regular input
regarding park planning and community events; review park conceptual designs prior to
development and receive public input; review existing parks for possible renovation and
use, and receive public input; and encourage and support relationships with volunteer
and non-profit organizations, and public and private agencies, regarding parks, facilities,
open space, and community events.
Qualifications: Applicants must reside in the City of Orange and shall have knowledge of
sports complexes and/or park development, and knowledge of City-sponsored events.
Meetings: The Park Planning and Community Events Commission meets on the third
Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September and October at 5:30 p.m. in the
Council Chamber.
Application Deadline: Open until filled. In accordance with Govt. Code 54974, final
appointment to the board shall not be made by the City Council for at least 10 business
days after the posting of this notice.
