A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORANGE DEFINING THE TERM
HOLIDAYS"ON CITY REGULATORY SIGNS
WHEREAS,the City regulatory signs inform the public of parking and street maintenance
regulations; and
WHEREAS, City regulatory signs may reference restrictions or exemptions related to
Holidays; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to clearly define what constitutes a "Holiday" as referenced
on City regulatory signs to ensure consistency and public understanding; and
WHEREAS,the City Council seeks to provide clarity for residents and visitors as to what
is a Holiday as posted on City regulatory signs.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as
follows:
SECTION 1:
Definition of Holidays on City Signage
Any reference to "Holidays" on official City parking, street maintenance, or other
regulatory signs shall refer to the designated Holidays listed in Exhibit A, which may be updated
as needed.
SECTION 2:
Authority to Update Holidays
The City Manager or designee is authorized to modify the holiday list in Exhibit A to reflect
changes in federal, state, or local holiday designations without requiring additional City Council
approval. Any updates shall be communicated through official city channels.
ADOPTED this 8th day of April 2025.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day(Third Monday in January)
Presidents' Day(Third Monday in February)
Cesar Chavez Day(March 31)
Memorial Day(Last Monday in May)
Juneteenth(June 19)
Independence Day(July 4)
Labor Day(First Monday in September)
Columbus/Indigenous People's Day (Second Monday in October)
Veterans Day(November 11)
Thanksgiving Day(Fourth Thursday in November)
Christmas Day(December 25)
