July 16, 2024
The Parks Planning & Community Events Commission of the City of Orange, California
convened on July 16, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in a Regular Meeting in the Council Chamber, 300 E.
Chapman Avenue, Orange, California.
1. OPENING/CALL TO ORDER
Chair Fields called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm
1.1 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Led by Commissioner Eva Perez
1.2 ROLL CALL
Present Freeman, Perez, Ahlswede, de Vries, Kushon, and Fields
Absent Litwin
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Speakers:
Reggie Mundekis suggested defined guidelines and policies may improve the
Sponsorship Program.
Marc Conner wants to make parks more accessible to skateboarders.
Allyssa Elders offered help with fundraising efforts for 3rd of July.
Brandy Romero volunteered to set up a Go Fund Me to fundraise for events.
Perla Lozano of AYSO volunteered to sponsor a Movie in the Park.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3.1. Approval of minutes of the City of Orange Park Planning & Community Events
Commission Regular Meeting held on March 19, 2024.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Kushon, to
approve the minutes as presented. The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Freeman, Perez, Ahlswede, de Vries, Kushon, and Fields
Noes: None
Absent: Litwin

4. COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Assistant Director, Emily Bustamante, provided an update on Fiscal Year 2024-25
Capital Improvement Council approved projects and park related grants.
Parks and Facilities Manager, Robert Ambriz Jr., reported on the status of current
projects, namely the New Park in West Orange, Antepasado Park, and the Skate Park
at Grijalva Park.
Recreation Services Manager, Danielle Valadez, provided a recap on the June Movie
in the Park, Sandlot.
Assistant Director, Emily Bustamante, provided an update on special event
sponsorship.
5. ADJOURNMENT
The next Regular Park Planning & Community Events Commission meeting will be held
on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
