All interested persons may submit comments and may be heard on any relevant matter relating to the proposed actions by mail, email, voicemail or in-person, as set forth in the August 7, 2024, Design Review Committee agenda to be posted on the City’s website at www.cityoforange.org. DATE: WEDNESDAY, August 7, 2024 TIME: 5:30 P.M. (or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard) SUBJECT: Johnson Residence – Garage Demolition and New Construction (DESIGN REVIEW NO. 5117-23) PROPERTY LOCATION: 454 S. Shaffer Street (APN: 390-414-20) REQUEST: A proposal to demolish an existing two-car 408 square-foot garage at the rear of a non-contributing property and in its place construct a new two-car detached 434 square-foot garage and the creation of two unenclosed parking spaces at the rear of an existing duplex. The property is not a contributor to the Old Towne Orange Historic District. ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION: The proposed project is categorically exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) per State CEQA Guidelines Section 15302 (Class 2 – Replacement or Reconstruction), because the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, and as per Guidelines Section 15303 (Class 3 – New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) because it is the construction of a new accessory structure.
