ORD-12-87 AMENDING THE SEIGNATIONS ON MULTIPLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTSORDINANCE NO. 12- 87 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE AMENDING THE DESIGNATIONS OF MULTIPLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS FROM RD-6, RD-7, RD- 8, RM-7, AND RMM-6 TO READ R- 2-6, R-2-7, R-2-8, R-3, AND R-4 RESPECTIVELY.AMENDMENT 6-86 WHEREAS, Resolution No. PC-IOl- 86 was adopted by the Planning Commission on December 1, 1986, after a duly-noticed public hearing; and WHEREAS, said Resolution recommended to the City Council that the City's designations of multiple family residential districts be changed to the designations used until about ten years ago because these original designa-tions are better understood in the community; and WHEREAS, said Resolution further recommended that Section 17. 26.110 be amended to allow second story develop- ment by conditional use permit when the proposed development abuts existing single story development on three sides; and WHEREAS, on January 13, 1987, the City Council approved the aforementioned recommendations after a duly-noticed public hearing; and WHEREAS, this Ordinance No. 12-87 is adopted to implement this City Council approval.NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:Section I:Title 17 of the Orange Municipal Code is hereby amended as follows:A. Amend all references to 17.26.110 Building Height. The building height limit shall be two stories and shall not exceed 30 feet, except as provided in Chapter 17.72. A. Exception: When the proposed development abuts single story development on three sides, the height of development shall be one story. Second story development may be allowed by conditional use permit. C. Amend all references within Chapter 17.28 to the RD-7 district to read "R-2-7"; and revise the reference to the RD- 6 to read R-2-6.D. Amend all references within Chapter 17.30 to the RD-8 District to read "R-2-8"; and revise the reference to the RD-6 to read R- 2-6.E. Amend all references within Chapter 17.32 to the RM-7 district to read "R-3"; and revise the reference to the RD-6 to read R-2-6.F. Amend all references within Chapter 17.34 to the RMM-6 district to read "R-4"; and revise the reference to the RD-6 to read R-2-6. G. Amend any other references to the RD-6, RD-7. RD-8,RM-7, or RMM-6 districts within Title 17 of the Code to read R-2-6, R-2-7, R-2-8, R-3, or R-4 respectively. Section II:A summary of this Ordinance shall be published and a certified copy of the full text of this Ordinance shall be posted in the Office of the City Clerk at least five (5)days prior to the city Council meeting at which this Ordi-nance is to be adopted. A summary of this Ordinance shall also be published once within fifteen (15) days after this Ordinance's passage in the Orange City News, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Orange. The City Clerk voting for and against the Ordinance in accordance with Government Code Section 36933. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from and after the date of its final passage.
