84 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORANGE ADOPTING THE UNIFORM
SIGN CODE, 1979 EDITION, BY REFERENCE,
PROVID-ING FOR REGULATION OF THE
CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF SIGNS AND SIGN
STRUC-TURES NOT LOCATED WITHIN A BUILDING,
AND FIXING PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATIONS.WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 50022.22 et seq, provide
for the adoption of codes by reference;
and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adopt the Uniform Sign
Code,1979 Edition, by reference;
and WHEREAS, the purpose of said Code is to provide minimum
standards to safeguard life, health, property and public welfare by
regulating and controlling the design, quality of materials, construction,
loca-tion, eletrification and maintenance of all signs and sign
structures not located within a
building,NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DOES
ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:SECTION
I:Chapter 15,25 of the Orange Municipal Code is hereby added to
read as

Violation--Penalty 15.25,010 Adoption, The Uniform Sign Code, 1979
Edition published by the International Conference of Building Officials, is
adopted by reference, The required copies are on file in the office of
the City Clerk for use and examination by
the public.15.25.020 Violation--Penalty. A. Any person,
firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Code shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall be deemed guilty
of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during
which any viola-tion of any of the provisions of this Code is
committed, continued, or Permitted, and upon conviction of any such violation
such person shall be punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred
imprisonment for not more than six months, or by both such fine and
imprisonment, B, In addition, this Code may be enforced by injunction
or other appropriate civil remedy.
SECTION II:
A summary of this Ordinance shall be published and a certified
copy of the full text of this Ordinance shall be posted in the Office
of the City Clerk at least five (5) days prior to the City Council
meeting at which this Ordinance is to be adopted, A summary of this
Ordinance shall also be published once within fifteen (15) days after
this Ordinance's passage in the Orange City News, a newspaper of general
circulation, published and circulated in the City of Orange. The City
Clerk shall post in the Office of the City Clerk a certified copy of
the full text of such adopted Ordinance along with the names of those
City Council members voting for and against the Ordinance in accordance
with Government Code Section 36933, This Ordinance shall take effect
thirty (30) days from and after the date of its final passage,
