84 AN ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ORANGE ADOPTING THE STATE HISTO-RICAL BUILDING
CODE, 1979 EDITION, BY REFERENCE, PROVIDING
FOR REGULATION OF QUALIFIED HISTORICAL
BUILDINGS AND STRUC-TURES,WHEREAS,
the
Old Towne area of the City has been designated as an historical
area; and WHEREAS, there
are historical buildings and structures in the Old Towne
area of the City; and WHEREAS, the
State has provided a State Historical Building Code which
cities may utilize for qualified historical buildings and structures;
and WHEREAS, the
City Council of the City of Orange desires to be able to
utilize the Historical Building Code for qualified historical buildings
and structures,NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:SECTION I:
Chapter 15,
56, Sections 15.56.010 and 15.56.020 are hereby added to
the Orange Municipal Code to read as follows:Chapter 15.

56,010 Adoption. The State Historical Building Code,1979
Edition, published by the State of California, is adopted by reference.
The required copies are on file with the City Clerk for
use and examination by the public,15.
56.020 Violation--Penalty, A. Any person, firm, or
corporation violating any of the provisions of this Code shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall
be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day
or portion thereof during Which any violation of any of the
provisions of this Code is committed, continued, or permitted,
and upon conviction of any such violation such person shall be
punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars, or
by imprisonment for not more than six months, or by both such
fine and imprisonment.
B, In addition, this Code may be enforced by injunction
or other appropriate civil remedy,
SECTION II:A summary of thisOrdinance shall
be published
and a certified copy of the full text of this Ordinance
shall be posted in the Office of the City Clerk at least five (
5) days prior to the City Council meeting at which this Ordinance is tobeadopted. A summary of this Ordinance shall also be published
once within fifteen (15) days after this Ordinance's passage
in the Orange City News, a newspaper of general circulation, publishedandcirculatedintheCityofOrange. The City
Clerk shall post in the Office of the City Clerk a certified
copy of the full text of such adopted Ordinance along with the names of
those City Council members voting for and against the Ordinance in
accordance with Government Code Section 36933. This Ordinance shall take
effect thirty (30) days from and after the date
of its final passage.ADOPTED this 21st day of February 1984.Attest:
