ORD-05-84 THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE 1981 EDITION PROVIDING A PRACTICAL METHOD FOR SAFEGUARDING OF PERSONS AND BUILDINGS FOR HAZARDS FOR FIREIl___.._______ ORDINANCE NO. 5- 84 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE ADOPTING, BY REFERENCE,THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1981 EDI-TION, AND APPENDIX, PROVIDING A PRACTICAL METHOD FOR THE SAFEGUARDING OF PERSONS AND OF BUILDINGS AND THEIR CONTENTS FROM HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE USE OF ELECTRI-CITY FOR LIGHT, HEAT, POWER, RADIO, SIG-NALING, AND OTHER PURPOSES AND FIXING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION.WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17922 provides for the adoption of certain uniform building and housing codes; and WHEREAS, said State law provides that local governments shall impose substantially the same requirements as provided by State law in regard to such uniform building and housing codes; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orange desires to provide for the adoption of more recent editions of such uniform building and housing codes,NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:SECTION I:Chapter 15.24, Sections 15.24.010 through 15.24.150 of the Orange Municipal Code, is hereby repealed,SECTION II:Chapter 15.24, Sections 15.24.010 and 15.24.020 are here-by added to the Orange Municipal Code to read as follows:Chapter 15, 24 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE Sections:15.24. 010 15,24, 020 Adoption Violation--Penalty 15,24.010 Adoption, The National Electrical Code, 1981 Edition, and Appendix, published by the National Fire Protection Association are adopted by reference, The required copies are on file in the office of the City Clerk for use and examination by the public,15,24,020 Violation--Penalty. A. Any person, firm or corporat~on v~olating any of the provisions of this Code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violations are n._.___._,_ _____._.____~ conviction of any such violation such person shall be punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. B, In addition, this Code may be enforced by injunction or other appropriate civil remedy, (Ords. 1-80 Section 3( part) ,1980: 38-79 Section l(part), 1979: prior code Section 8302) SECTION III:A summary of this Ordinance shall be published and a certified copy of the full text of this Ordinance shall be posted in the Office of the City Clerk at least five (5) days prior to the City Council meeting at which this Ordinance is to be adopted. A summary of this Ordinance shall also be published once within fifteen (15) days after this Ordinance's passage in the Orange City News, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Orange.
