84 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORANGE ADOPTING THE UNIFORM
CODE FOR THE ABATEMENT OF DANGEROUS
BUILDINGS,1979 EDITION, BY REFERENCE,
PROVIDING ORDERLY PROCEDURES FOR REMEDYING
DAN-GEROUS BUILDINGS, AND FIXING
PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATIONS,WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17922 provides for
the adoption of certain uniform building and housing codes;
and WHEREAS, said State law provides that local
governments shall impose substantially the same requirements as provided
by State law in regard to such uniform building and housing codes;
and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orange desires to
pro-vide for the adoption of more recent editions of such
uniform building and housing
codes,NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE
DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:SECTION
I:Sections 15.20.010 and 15,20.020 of the Orange Municipal
Code are hereby amended to read as
follows:15.20,010 Adoption. The Uniform Code for the
Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1979 Edition, published by the
International Conference of Building Officials, is adopted by reference.
The required copies are on file in the office of the City Clerk for
use and examination by the
public,15.20.020 Violation--Penalty. A. Any person,
firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Code
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall
be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or
portion there-of during which any violation of any of the provisions of
this Code is committed, continued, or permitted, and upon conviction
of any such violation such person shall be punishable by a fine
of not more than five hundred dollars, or by imprisonment for
not more than six months, or by both such fine
and imprisonment,B, In addition, this Code may be enforced by
injunction or other appropriate
civil remedy.
SECTION II:A summary of this Ordinance shall be published and
a certified copy of the full text of this Ordinance shall be posted in
of the City Clerk at least five (5) days prior to the City Council
meeting at which this Ordinance is to be adopted, A summary of
this Ordinance shall also be published once within fifteen (15) days
after this Ordinance's passage in the Orange City News, a newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of
Orange. The City Clerk shall post in the Office of the City Clerk
a certified copy of the full text of such adopted Ordinance along
with the names of those City Council members voting for and against
the Ordinance in accordance with Government Code Section 36933,
This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from and after
the date of its final passage.
