CITY OF ORANGE AMENDING SECTION 9125.1 (1) OF
THE ORANGE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
OFF-
STREET PARKING.
Amendment 5-79
CITY OF ORANGE WHEREAS, the automobile has become the
dominant mode of transportation in the
United States; and WHEREAS, the ratio of automobiles to families
has risen over the past
thirty years; and WHEREAS, recreational vehicles and boats
have enjoyed
increased popularity; and WHEREAS, this increase in the
vehicle population further taxes limited
off-street parking; and WHEREAS, many surrounding cities
require, and most single family detached houses provide, a minimum of
two auto spaces per garage in a
single family zone; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds and
determines that all new construction should require a minimum of
two auto spaces per l' garage in a single family zone. This
applies to new construction only and not to remodeling of older
single family dwelling units constructed prior to the effective
date of this ordinance.NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE
DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:SECTION I:Section 9125.1 (1) of the Orange
Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as fo 110ws :Section 9125.1 (
1)One Family Dwellings Two enclosed garage spaces
per dwelling unit, provided,however, that this requirement of
two enclosed garage spaces shall not apply to any dwelling unit
for which a buildin~permit has been issued prior to the effective
date
of thl.
s ordinance.SECTION II:This ordinance shall be published
once within fifteen (IS)days after its passage in the Orange City
News, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated
in the City of Orange, and shall take effect thirty (30)
days from and after the date
of its final passage.ADOPTED this 18th
day of December
1979.
