79 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE AMENDING SUBSECTION (d) OF
SECTION 9300.6 OF THE ORANGE MUNICIPAL CODE
PROHIBITING BUS BENCH ADVERTISING EXCEPT THAT
ADVERTISING WHICH CURRENTLY EXISTS ON BENCHES AS
AUTHORIZED BY ORDINANCE NO.
18-75.WHEREAS, the City Council desires to obtain
Federal funding for bus
benches, and WHEREAS, Federal regulations require that to
qualify for Federally funded bus benches, cities must enact
ordinances which prohibit advertising on such
benches, and WHEREAS, City of Orange Ordinance No. 18-
75 permits such advertising if it does not exceed
250 square inches.NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE DOES
ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:SECTION I:Ordinance No. 18-75 permitting
limited bus bench
advertising is
hereby rescinded.SECTION II:The last paragraph of Subsection (d) of
Section 9300.6 of the Orange Municipal Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:Benches located on public right-
of-way prior to the effective date of
this ordinance and containing advertising heretofore permitted pursuant to
Ordinance No. 18-75, shall be allowed to retain such
advertising matter and remain in the public right-of-way
until
such time as such benches are removed or replaced.
Benches placed on the public right-of-way which are funded
in whole or in part by agencies of the
United States Government, shall not have displayed thereon any sign
or
insignia except as may be allowed by the United States
Government.Benches placed on the public right-?f-way which ~re not
funded in whole or in part by agenc1es of
the Un1ted States Government shall be permitted to
display one insignia or symbol of ~ non-profit organization, provided that

afte~ ~ts p~ssage ~n,the Orange City News, a newspaper of general
c~rculat~on, publ~shed and circulated in the City of Orange,
and ~hall.take effect thirty (30) days from and after the
