JENSEN, CITY CLlU(~ ORDINANCE NO. 31- 80 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE AMENDING SECTION 2.08. 030 OF THE ORANGE MUNICIPAL CODE BY REVISING CERTAIN SECTIONS THEREOF AND AUTHORIZING INCREASES IN COUNCIL SALARIES IN ACCOR-DANCE WITH THE AUTHORITY GRANTED IN SECTION 36516.2 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE.WHEREAS, Section 36516.2 was added to the California Government Code in 1972; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned section of the California Government Code permits the compensation of councilmen to be increased beyond the amounts provided in the population formula set forth in Section 36516 of the Government Code if an ordinance increasing compensation is enacted by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the salary increase to City Councilmen authorized by Section 36516.2 of the Government Code should be granted; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the total salary increase authorized by the aforementioned Section 36516.2 is to equal twenty-five percent of the present monthly salary of each councilman inasmuch as the aforementioned Government Code section permits an increase equal to five percent for each calendar year from the operative date of the last adjustment of each councilman's salary in effect when the ordinance herein is enacted, and the operative date of the last adjustment of the councilmen's salary was on the 1st day of June, 1974.NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I:Notwithstanding the limitations contained in Section 36516 of the California Government Code, the compensation of councilmen is hereby authorized to be increased beyond the amount provided in Section 36516 of the Government Code and in accordance with the provisions of Section 36516.2 of the Government Code and subject to the limitations contained therein. SECTION II:In accordance with the authority of Section 36516. 2 of the California Government Code, the City Council of the City of Orange hereby authorizes the compens~tion of councilmen to be increased in an amount equal to f~ve percent f~ r each calendar year from the operative date of the last adJustment of the salary which last salary adjustment occurred on the 1st day of June, 1974. SECTION III:Each member of the City Council shall rece~ve. the sum of $450.00 a month. This salary is payable beg~nn~~ g the 1st day of June, 1980, and is p~yable.at the same t~ me ~nd in the same manner as the salar~es pa~d each of the off~cers and employees of SECTION IV: Salaries Exclusive of Reimbursement: The salaries prescribed by this ordinance are exclusive of, and in addition to, any other amount payable to a member of the Council as reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by him in the performance of his official duties. SECTION V: This ordinance shall be published once within fifteen 15) days after its passage in the Orange City News, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Orange, and shall take effect thirty (30) days from and after the date of its final passage.
