HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-27-2023 Minutes PPCEAPPROVED BY THE PARK PLANNING & COMMUNITY EVENTS COMMISSION ON OCTOBER 25, 2023 MINUTES City of Orange Park Planning and Community Events Commission July 27, 2023 The Parks Planning & Community Events Commission of the City of Orange, California convened on July 27, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in an Adjourned Regular Meeting in the Council Chamber, 300 E. Chapman Avenue, Orange, California. 1. OPENING/CALL TO ORDER Chair Eugene Fields called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. 1.1 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Eugene Fields. 1.2 ROLL CALL Present Litwin, Ahlswede, Freeman, Perez, de Vries, Kushon, and Fields Absent None 1.3 ANNOUNCEMENTS None. 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS None. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.1. Approval of minutes of the City of Orange Park Planning & Community Events Commission Regular Meeting held on April 26, 2023. A motion was made by Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Kushon, to approve the minutes as presented. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Litwin, Ahlswede, Freeman, Perez, de Vries, Kushon, and Fields Noes: None Absent: None 4. REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS Commissioner Freeman provided an update on the subcommittee's recommendation for the name of the pocket park at the Well 28 site. Commissioner Kushon requested a report at a future meeting to discuss naming rights of parks and park amenities as a source of income. Page 1 of 2 Park Planning and Community Events Minutes July 27,2023 Commission Commissioner Ahlswede requested the Commission vote for the Chair at the October meeting instead of at the January meeting. Chair Fields thanked City Staff for the Special Events and requested "dogs on leash" signs at Yorba Park. 5. ADMIN REPORTS 5.1. Capital Improvement Project Planning A motion was made by Chair Fields, seconded by Commissioner Ahlswede, to - recommend capital improvement projects for the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 as listed with the inclusion of a possible Splash Pad, reserving funds for community outreach, and developing and updating the Masterplan. Also if funding becomes available, to reconsider the mural project at El Camino Real Park. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Litwin,Ahlswede, Freeman, Perez, de Vries, Kushon, and Fields Noes: None Absent: None 5.2. City Led Special Events. Commissioners provided input and recommendations for the City Led Special Events. 6. COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR'S REPORT Danielle Valadez, Recreation Services Manager provided a recap of the 3rd of July event and the upcoming fall events. 7. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:46 pm. The next Regular Park Planning & Community Events Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber.
