Orange Public Library Board of Trustees
March 20,2023
The Orange Public Library Board of Trustees of the City of Orange, California convened on
March 20, 2023 al 3:3O p.m. in a Regular Meeting in the Community Room of the Orange
Public Library & History Center, 407 E. Chapman Avenue, Orange, California.
1. OPENING/CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chair Huber called the meeting to order at 3:36 p.m.
1.1 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Trustee Calvert led the flag salute.
1.2 ROLL GALL
Present: Huber, Calvert, and Montgomery
Absent: Martinez
2 PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of meeting minutes of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees for
the February 27, 2023 Regular Meeting.
A motion was made by Trustee Calvert, seconded by Trustee Montgomery, to approve
the minutes as presented.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Aves: Huber, Calvert, and Montqomery
Noes: None
Absent: Martinez
4. FRIENDS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT
Christine Huard-Spencer reported the following on behalf of the Friends of the Orange
Public Library ("Friends"):. Updates on bookstore sales, internet sales, and new memberships.. Friends made a donation of large print books to the Park Plaza Senior Living
facility.. The bookstore will have a sale on March 25,2023 and during Heritage Days on
April 8,2023.

. Friends are working to start donating books to Little Free Public Libraries
throughout the city.. Friends will celebrate their 65th anniversary in 2024.
5. ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT
Lynn-Marie Frediani reported the following on behalf of the Orange Public Library
Foundation ("Foundation"):. Updates on the next Legacy Awards which is set for June 4,2023 and will take
place in the Sandhu Conference Center at Chapman University.. The seed library at the Taft Library Branch is now open. The Foundation wil! hold
seed sorting meetings to build gardening Discovery Kits for the Library.. "National Library Giving Day" will happen in April 2023.
6. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
6.1. Updates on Library Services
Amy Harpster, Assistant Library Services Director, provided a report on current events
at the Library, including:. A recap of the Library tour provided to "Leadership Orange" on March 8, 2023.. Equipment and building improvements for the Library.. The EI Modena Library Branch is updating their patio/garden space.. The Library will present their budget for the 23124 Fiscal Year to the City Council.. The Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast wil! take place in April in the Community
Room of the Orange Public Library & History Center.. Library staffing updates.. An announcement of upcoming Library events and programs.. The OPL Statistics at a Glance - February 2023 Report was received and filed.

The February 2023 Financial Report was received and filed

The Trustees had the following to report:. Vice Chair Huber attended the Dinosaur Hunt program at the El Modena Library
Branch and praised Children's overall programming.. Trustee Montgomery announced she will attend the Serving with a Purpose
Conference in May 2023.. Trustee Calvert provided an update on Ukulele Soup.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at4:19 p.m.
The next Regular Orange Public Library Board of Trustees meeting will be held on
Monday, April 17, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. in the Rotary Room at the Orange Public Library &
