Opportunity to serve on the:
Planning Commission
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to California Government Code §54974, that an
unscheduled vacancy exists on the Planning Commission due to the resignation of
Jonathan Trapesonian. The successful appointee will be required to file a Statement of
Economic Interest (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office. In addition, AB1234
Ethics Education and AB1661 Sexual Harassment Avoidance Training certificates are
required.
The Planning Commission makes land use decisions in accordance with State law that
are consistent with the City’s General Plan goals and policies; it provides technical and
advisory assistance to the City Council regarding land use matters; assists in formulating
development policy; makes environmental assessments in accordance with CEQA
provisions and the City’s Environmental Review Guidelines; hears and decides
applications for conditional use permits, variances, major site plan review, negative
declarations and appeals of administrative actions, decisions by the Zoning Administrator
and Design Review Committee and makes recommendations to the City Council on
applications for zone changes, tentative tract maps and environmental impact reports and
amendments to the City’s zoning ordinance and general plan.
Qualifications: Applicants must reside in the City of Orange and shall have general
knowledge of land use and development.
Meetings: The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Monday of each month
at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber.
Application Deadline: Open until filled. In accordance with Govt. Code 54974, final
appointment to the board shall not be made by the City Council for at least 10 business
days after the posting of this notice.
