HomeMy WebLinkAboutCandidate Filing InstructionsInstructions for Online Candidate Filing Portal Step 1:  Register as a candidate through Election Portal on City website Step 2:  Staff will verify voter registration and email a confirmation  Once email confirmation is received, return to the Election Portal and submit the following documents: o Contact Information for Media/Public, Form 1-5 o Declaration of Candidacy & Eligibility, Form 2-2 Step 3:  Staff will review submitted documents and schedule an appointment to issue nomination paper Step 4:  After meeting with the City Clerk, return to the Election Portal and submit the following documents: o Candidate Acknowledgment, Form 1-4 o Campaign Sign Regulations Statement of Responsibility, Form 8-5 o Ballot Designation Worksheet o Candidate Statement Receipt, Form 4-4 o Optional – Candidate Statement o Optional – Code of Fair Campaign Practices, Form 8-1  Download Statement of Economic Interests Form 700, complete, print and sign; and return original signature to the City Clerk at the time nomination papers are filed  Obtain required signatures on Nomination Paper and request an appointment through the Election Portal to file original with the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on August 12 Step 5:  Signatures are verified by Orange County Registrar of Voters Step 6:  Candidate receives an email notifying them if they have qualified as a candidate for the November 8 election.
