Step 1:
Register as a candidate through Election Portal on City website
Step 2:
Staff will verify voter registration and email a confirmation
Once email confirmation is received, return to the Election Portal and submit the
following documents:
o Contact Information for Media/Public, Form 1-5
o Declaration of Candidacy & Eligibility, Form 2-2
Step 3:
Staff will review submitted documents and schedule an appointment to issue
nomination paper
Step 4:
After meeting with the City Clerk, return to the Election Portal and submit the
following documents:
o Candidate Acknowledgment, Form 1-4
o Campaign Sign Regulations Statement of Responsibility, Form 8-5
o Ballot Designation Worksheet
o Candidate Statement Receipt, Form 4-4
o Optional – Candidate Statement
o Optional – Code of Fair Campaign Practices, Form 8-1
Download Statement of Economic Interests Form 700, complete, print and sign; and
return original signature to the City Clerk at the time nomination papers are filed
Obtain required signatures on Nomination Paper and request an appointment
through the Election Portal to file original with the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on August
12
Step 5:
Signatures are verified by Orange County Registrar of Voters
Step 6:
Candidate receives an email notifying them if they have qualified as a candidate for
the November 8 election.
