99 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORANGE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.66
OF THE ORANGE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
THE DESIGNATION OF TRUCK ROUTES IN THE
CITY.THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DOES ORDAIN
AS
FOLLOWS:SECTION
I:Section 10.66.020 ofthe Orange Municipal Code shall be amended to read as
follows:10.66.020 Restricted Use of Streets bv Trucks and Other
Vehicles.Upon recommendation of the Traffic Commission and the City Traffic Engineer,
the City Council may, by ordinance, designate, establish and maintain fixed truck routes within
the City. The City Council hereby establishes the following streets as fixed truck routes to
be effective when

SECTION II:
Section 10.66.030 of the Orange Municipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:
10.66.030 Prohibited Routes.A.
Subject to the provisions, exceptions and limitations of Section 35703 of the Vehicle
Code, no person shall operate any vehicle, which has a gross weight of 6,000 pounds or more,
upon any street not designated as a truck route.B.
Subject to the provisions, exceptions and limitations of Section 35703 of the Vehicle
Code, no person shall operate any vehicle, which has a gross weight of 26,000 pounds or
more, upon Chapman Avenue, between Tustin Street and Batavia Street."SECTION
III:Section
10.66.050 ofthe Orange Municipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:10.
66.050 Exemptions.The
provisions of this Section shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the
Public Utilities Commission; or to any vehicle owned or operated by the City, public utilities,
or any contractor or materialman, while engaged in the repair, maintenance or construction
of streets, street improvements or street utilities within the City; or to any authorized
emergency vehicle; or to any commercial vehicle otherwise exempted under Section 35703
ofthe Vehicle Code."SECTION
IV:Should
any section, subsection, clause, or provision of this Ordinance for any reason be held
to be invalid or unconstitutional, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity
or constitutionality of the remaining portions of this Ordinance; it being hereby expressly
declared that this Ordinance, and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and phrase hereof
would have been prepared, proposed, approved and ratified irrespective of the fact that anyone
or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION
V:
A summary
of this Ordinance shall be published and a certified copy of the full text of this Ordinance
shall be posted in the Office of the City Clerk at least five (5) days prior to the City Council
meeting at which this Ordinance is adopted. A summary of this Ordinance shall also be
published once within fifteen (15) days after this Ordinance's passage in a newspaper of g<::neral
circulation, published, and circulated in the City of Orange. The City Clerk shall post in the Office
of the City Clerk a certified copy of the full text of such adopted Ordinance along Ord. No.
21-99 3 MEB
with the names of those City Council members voting for and against the Ordinance in
accordance with Government Code Section 36933. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30)
days from and after the date of its final passage.
