THE CITY ORANGE AMENDING SECTION 2.16.060
OF THE ORANGE MUNICIPAL CODE DELETING
THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE
CITY
MANAGER.NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Orange does hereby
ordain as
follows:SECTION
I:Section 2.16.060 of the Orange Municipal Code entitled "Miscellaneous Provisions"
is hereby amended to delete subdivision "A" thereof and to reorder the remainder of
Section 2.16.060 so that said section shall read in its entirety as
follows:2.16.060 Miscellaneous
Provisions.A. Appointment Eligibility of Councilman. No person elected as a member of
the City Council of the City shall, subsequent to such election, be eligible for appointment
as City Manager until one (1) year has elapsed after such Council Member has ceased to
be a member of the City
Council.B. Bond. The City Manager shall furnish a corporate surety bond to be approved
by the City Council in such sum as may be determined by the City Council and shall
be conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties imposed upon the City
Manager as prescribed in this chapter. Any premium for such bond shall be a proper
charge against the
City.C. Absence. The City Manager shall designate any officer of the City to serve
as acting City Manager during any temporary absence or disability of the City Manager.
In the event or failure to make such designation, the City Council may appoint an officer
to perform the duties of the City Manager during the period of absence or disability of
the City
Manager."

II:A summary of this Ordinance shall be published and a certified copy of the full text
of this Ordinance shall be posted in the Office of the City Clerk at least five (5) days prior to
the City Council meeting at which this Ordinance is to be adopted. A summary of this
Ordinance shall also be published once within fifteen (15) days after its passage in a newspaper of
general cin:ulation in the City of Orange. The City Clerk shall post in the Office of the City Clerk
a certified copy of the full text of the adopted Ordinance along with the names of those
Council members voting for and against the Ordinance in accordance with Government Code
Section 36933.
