RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGB EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO DETBCTlVE JOHN L. HOORE OF THE ORANGE
POLICE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR
MORE THAN THIRTY-ONE YBARS OF LOYAL
AND DEDICATBD
SBRVICE.WHEREAS, John L. "Jolo" Moore began his career with
the Orange police Department as a patrol officer on July
13,1961, and was the second officer to be assigned to the
newly formed Accident Investigation unit in July 1964:
and WHEREAS, John was assigned to
Traffic officer for the next five years and
between transferred back and forth
between vice/intelligence:
and WHEREAS, he received the Medal of Valor for
involving himself in a police pursuit which originated in the city
of Corona involving a kidnapping during which the suspects
were pursued to the City of Orange:
and as a
motor 1970 and
1975 motors
and WHEREAS, a suspect was attempting to fire his
handgun when John fired back resulting in the suspect being
wounded and forced to surrender:
and WHBREAS, in 1990 John was assigned to work
Criminal Intelligence out of the Police Chief's Department,
and recently his position was transferred to the
Detective Division in the newly formed police Department Gang
Unit:
and WHBREAS, John was instrumental in the
computerization of the gang photos and gang file for the
nationwide computerized system that identifies gang members:
and WHEREAS, in 1991 John was presented the Award of
Merit from Orange Rotary Club for his assistance in
extinguishing a fire at his neighbor's home:
and WHBREAS, John has announced his decision to retire
from City service as of December 30, 1992:
and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the city of orange hereby expresses sincere appreciation
and congratulations to John L. Moore for his more than 31
years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of
Orange.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council, on
behalf of the Citizens of Orange, wishes Detective John L. Moore
most happy and fulfilling retirement.
