RES-8044 Bestowing Honorary Title Police Chief Emeritus on Merrill V. DuncanRESOLUTION NO. 8044 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE BESTOWING THE HONORARY TITLE POLICE CHIEF EMERITUS" ON MERRILL V. DUNCAN WHEREAS, Chief Merrill V. Duncan has officially retired as Police Chief of Orange, effective June 15, 1992; and WHEREAS, Chief Merrill V. Duncan, while serving as Police Chief for the city of Orange, provided Orange with confidence and a solid background of law enforcement experience, as well as hOlding the respect of the community and colleagues. Because of this confidence, he was called back to service in Orange several times due to unusual circumstances; and WHEREAS, by designating Chief Merrill V. Duncan as "Police Chief Emeritus", the City Council reserves the right to call him back to service if a time of need occurs, as previously resolved in Resolution No. 8025 adopted June 9, 1992. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange, California, to hereby pay tribute to Chief Merrill V. Duncan for his dedication to our community by officially bestowing the Honorary Title "Police Chief Emeritus" effective immediately. ADOPTED this 23rd day of June, 1992.
